Can a 12 year old read Shatter Me? ›

I think this is absolutely great for kids for the age 10-12 it is a great book with so much entertainment and it is great for kids who want to expand reading curriculum!

Maas books, but has ratcheted up the swearing and sex scenes. This book is not suitable for those under 18. I'm a little disappointed that this is the way Maas chose to up the age bracket for her new series, but luckily it isn't the only way. The plot doesn't lend itself to a particularly adult audience.

A Court of Thorns and Roses Books in Order (5 Book Series)

However, parents should heavily consider the maturity and age of their child and teen before handing over this book since there are many mature themes. This book is at the higher end of a PG13 rating. Plenty of violence, though not too graphic.

Violence includes gunfire, with one death and injuries, a brief sexual assault, and talk of children hurt or killed. Swearing is prevalent, but doesn't go beyond "s--t." Characters kiss, grope, and remove clothing with talk of wanting to have sex. At the core of Shatter Me is the idea of power.

Does Shatter Me Have Spicy Scenes? There are no real explicit scenes in the Shatter Me book series, but there are some moments concerning consent or some scenes that could make readers uncomfortable.

All in all, it probably is not as bad as some video games out there, but yet not appropriate for young teens. Much of the violence is similar to The Hunger Games with the amount of blood and violence. The real reason why it isn't appropriate for teens, though, is the adult content.

Definitely more intense and violent than The Hunger Games books, and sexual violence/rape is mentioned, but never described in detail.

Six of Crows is especially great for anyone who loves dystopian and fantasy books, but this book is an amazing read for anyone! I would recommend this book is for anyone ages 12+. Overall, Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo is a great read.
